this looks like a really good production. im interested in applying to ucsd and i heard ucsd is well known for an outstanding theater arts program. was this associated with filipino club? what if you dont want to major in performing arts, but are a member of filipino club at ucsd and want to participate in filipino related performaces? is that possible?
also, what background music did you use?
i’m just really interested.
thanks.

Hey Julien, great questions! Hopefully I can shed some light for you and maybe some other high schoolers that have the same questions. Anyway, thanks for inquiring.
The background music is from The Last Samurai trailer.
UCSD does have a great theater arts program. Awaken was done with the Filipino org. at UCSD — Kaibigang Pilipino, but we weren’t connected to the theater department in any way. We were all amateurs who volunteered our time and efforts for a free 2-night show for the community and beyond. Anyone on campus is welcome to participate in KP’s yearly PCC (Pilipino Cultural Celebration), and I believe other colleges with similar programs (sometimes called Pilipino Culture Nights, PCN, etc.) have the same guidelines to participate. It’s a great platform and tool for a lot of reasons, and many college students get involved year after year. I encourage you to check it out wherever you decide on going — let us know too so Touchblue can watch!!
