FINALLY. Bringing a grueling primary season to a close, BARACK OBAMA clinches the Democratic nomination. Holler. After sharing a celebratory fist-bump with wife, Michelle, Obama graciously declares victory in St. Paul, Minnesota (site of the future GOP National Convention – it’s on, John McCain).
In 2007, 2.2 Million Aussies in Sydney, Australia decided to turn out the lights for one hour…AT THE SAME TIME. The amount of energy they saved was equivalent to taking 48,000 cars off the road. Wowzers. This year, on Saturday, March 29 from 8-9PM,“Earth Hour” goes global! From SF to Manila to… Christchurch (Yup, that’s a real city. In New Zealand.), millions of folks – including businesses and corporations – will be turning off their lights in a worldwide movement to cool the warming globe.
Or at least challenge you to drop some of your cynicism and resentment in the name of idealism, hope, and progress. We can do that, can’t we?
Whether you watch it or read it, this speech given yesterday by Barack Obama will either give you goose pimples or have you shed a single tear. In response to the attacks made against his pastor, Rev. Wright, for making inflammatory remarks about America in his sermons – Barack does not simply condemn his pastor and hope to move forward from a political mea culpa, but he insightfully addresses the long-ignored issue of Race in America and he HOLDS THE REVEREND DOWN.
If you haven’t already, take a minute…or 37…to finally be excited about a Presidential Candidate.
Circle up, Guys and Gals… really lean in on this one. We need a team huddle. Stat.
It has been brought to my attention that Carl’s Jr. is currently running a commercial for their chili cheeseburger that is strikingly similar to our sketch, “Knight School.” Before I say anything more, take a look at the videos… and judge for yourself:
Here is the Carl’s Jr Ad, which premiered during the Academy Awards last Sunday, entitled “Did I Get It?”:
Now here is “Knight School” (a sketch that we shot & posted to the web in April 2005):
Have I been plagiarized? What do you think? Personally, I’m not comfortable saying that I have been outright stolen from. I understand that this kind of parallel thinking can exist when dealing with messy treats. It would be unfair for me to suppose that no one else on this planet could arrive upon the same comedic conclusions as mine. That’s just silly.
But.
I will say… that when I first saw the ad, I felt like pile-driving something.
Two days later, my top buckle instincts have subsided… and it’s now time to begin the healing slash revenge process. Any ideas? Hollerback.
