Touchblue hearts US Census 2010

February 19, 2010 by Jaymar Cabebe

So every 10 years, the US government tries to tabulate the entire country’s population. Every household is asked to list the names of its residents, their sexes, and ethnic origins. It’s pretty simple and straightforward stuff. In fact, this year’s census form is one of the simplest and straight-forwardest in history.

Here’s the problem… for whatever reason, data on Asian Americans has historically been inaccurate. This presents all kinds of issues when determining political districts and allocating funds to state and local governments. In short, Asian Am-targeted programs get shafted due to artificially low census numbers.

Enter Touchblue: We’ve been commissioned to produce a series of viral videos to help promote awareness of and participation in the 2010 US Census. The project is funded by the federal government and sponsored by our friends at Kaya: Filipino Americans for Progress and Center for Asian American Media.

Enter You: We’ll need all the help we can get in promoting this campaign. We need to spread the word, not only because we love sharing our sketches with you all… but also because Touchblue wholeheartedly believes in the mission of this particular project. Right now, we’re in pre-production, but we will definitely post updates here on the site, on YouTube, and on our official Twitter account: twitter.com/touchblue.

So stay tuned for updates: subscribe to the feed here on the site, subscribe to the Touchblue YouTube Channel, follow us on Twitter, and spread the word. You’ll be hearing from us soon…

Thanks for sticking with. We love you too.
