Maraming Salamat Po, FPAC

September 10, 2007 by Francis Lansang

Many thanks to everyone that was a part of FPAC 2007!

Spam Singles Yo!

Crazy Tasty Town! Awesome!

There was a great turnout all weekend, filled with good food and good fun; lovers of Spam, individually packaged, WHAT?! Yup, spank your own hand if you missed out on this one. There was cultural dancing and cultural music, including an entire Kulintang set for everyone to play on. FilAm art and artists including Room to Improv, who had the audience rollin’, Bambu dropped some soul, Charmaine Clamor rocked the mic, Anthony Castelo, battleing DJs, a yo-yo-ist, Philippine All-stars, and the one and only, Rex Navarete. A bunch of air jumps for the kids and T-shirts galore!

Word on the street is that due to lack of funding, this might have been the last FPAC. But in our opinion, FPAC was as lively and beautiful as ever. To hear Tagalog and the different dialects of our language ring throughout the day. To see the re-enactment of the Bataan Death March. To observe how much we value our families and hospitality. Big ups to the community for putting their foot down and making it known that this event is important to us.

Bottom line, the festival was a great success, including the boycott of a T-Shirt company who had the audacity to spoof a Ford brand logo shirt with the following:

Filipina
(and the text under it…)
Have you ridden one lately?

SERIOUSLY?!?

Unfortunately, yes. At the Festival of Pilipino Arts and Culture, this company defended it’s “humor” and the owner’s response to community displeasure (we hear through word of mouth) was something to the extent of, “If you don’t like it, don’t buy it.”

We don’t. We won’t. We didn’t.

BIG UPS again to The People!

To all Blueans in attendance, we always appreciate the love. Real spit. If any of you have pictures that you could send us, please do so. Thank you in advance.

Isang Mahal,
One Love.

P.S. We were on time. Double middles to the dude emcee that heckled us on our way up to the stage. Do your job, buy the show some time.
Water under the bridge downtown.
