The State

February 3, 2007 by Rene Gube

‘The State’ was a shortlived sketch comedy show that aired on MTV from 1993 to 1995. The comedy itself was off-beat, edgy… like a Monty Python for the twenty-somethings that made up Generation X. Unfortunately at the time, I was thirteen and riding the puberty train to manhood.
Consequently, I am what happens when an impressionable, young mind is faced with non sequitur, sometimes cynical, teen-spirit comedy.

Aw. Yeah.

This show and “Buzzkill” represented the quality of programming that MTV used to have.
